When will T-mobile get Android 2.0?

Although the PR route is proper etiquette for uncovered details on devices it usually ends up leaving you asking the same questions as when you started when you are hunting for specifics like release dates.  Such is the case for T-mobile’s release of the new Android 2.0 OS, Eclair.  Our friends at TmoNews went on a bit of a treasure hunting expedition this weekend trying to pinpoint a release date for Android 2.0 updates for the T-mobile G1, myTouch 3G, Motorola CLIQ and this is what they found.

When asked if T-mobile Android handsets would get the Eclair update they were told that T-mobile is coordinating with Google to deliver the software and they will let them know when they have more details to share.  When asked if the CLIQ will get the 2.0 update they recommended it was better to contact Motorola since they have no announcements on software updates at this time.

The only good news that came from the probing with T-mobile PR is that since the G1 and myTouch 3G are Google Experience devices they will be getting Android 2.0 for sure.  myTouch 3G owners will receive their update OTA thanks to sufficient internal storage, but G1 owners might have to download the update off the computer depending on the file size.  Although you might have a memory card in your G1, a OTA software update could not be released for the G1 under the assumption that everyone with a G1 has a similar sized memory card.

Here’s my problem, I am in a bit of pickle, I have had my iphone 3G for the last 2 years and it’s been fine. It’s my understanding that Apple has a new software update due out called OS 4 and it’s supposed to be adding some new bells & whistles to the iphone. I actually just bought Verizon’s new HTC Incredible the HTC Incredible and it is a great phone, way better than the iphone, BUT I’m hearing that Apple is supposed to be coming out with a brand new iphone altogether, and it’s supposed to be really nice but no one has any ideas as to when and Apple isn’t saying a thing. Should I keep my HTC Incredible, that I have 30 days to test and give back if I do not want to keep it, or should I return it, keep my current apple iphone and wait for the release of the new iPhone- tough to decide.
