You were the first, the front runners who accepted Android in its infancy stages by purchasing the first commercial device to feature the Android OS, the T-mobile G1. Those of you who have remained loyal and stayed true to your G1 roots will soon be rewarded with the latest version of Android, 2.0 or 2.01 known by many as Eclair. According to various sources the problem with the G1 has always been the small system partition of 70MB which is used by 99% of capacity by Android 1.5 and Android 1.6. Thankfully we have huge news today straight from the devs at Android and T-mobile that they’ve found a way around this limitation.

Early adopters will finally catch a break on the T-mobile G1′s very soon in early 2010 with an official Android 2.0 release. You will not longer have to root your G1, your official release is on it’s way via an Over The Air update (OTA).

What started as code name Morrison quickly became the Motorola Sholes and now we know the device as the CDMA Droid or GSM Milestone. To say that Motorola’s fastest Android device was having personality crisis is the understatement of the holiday season. Just last week we saw the Sholes pass by the FCC with 3G North American bands ready for a GSM launch on At&t in the US or Rogers in Canada. Today we have even more exciting news for those magenta fans of T-mobile USA. In the Carrier Settings page on Motorola’s website we can clearly see a Sholes UMTS T-mobile USA carrier settings option as well as the Sholes Tablet for T-mobile USA. While it is too early to tell if this is a type and actually was intended for a T-mobile UK launch of the Motorola Milestone, the device remains a definite possibility.

Many existing T-mobile users have already pre-ordered their Motorola CLIQs, but for the general population the device still remains a bit of a mystery. Sure we’ve seen several hand-on sessions and even a few reviews surfacing across the Internet, but there is no substitute for actually holding the device in your hands. While we are not giving away a Motorola CLIQ for everyone that frequents our site, we do have a bit of a treat for you this evening, a never before seen Motorola CLIQ promo video. This video appeared on YouTube just a few short hours ago, probably as a last-minute effort by T-mobile and Motorola to salvage some pre-orders before the Droid goes live on Verizon Wireless. If you need just a little something extra to get you through while you wait for your Motorola CLIQ to arrive in the mail, we’ve got you covered.
